Accreditation

The Shawnee Chamber of Commerce has received the prestigious, 5-star Accreditation, one of the highest honors from the United States Chamber of Commerce, the world’s largest, business-advocacy organization. Only 102 (one percent) of the 7,022 chambers in the U.S. have achieved this level.  Chamber benefits from accreditation include enhanced membership, realistic program development and a justified pride in the organization.

The U.S. Chamber accreditation provides criteria and standards of excellence for chamber planning and performance. It recognizes and encourages involved, chamber members and staff working for their respective chambers and communities. Chambers earn accreditation by meeting rigorous standards for leadership, staff development, chamber policy and procedures, programs – including governance, government affairs, technology, planning and finance.

Chambers apply to the U.S. Chamber every five years to maintain accredited status. Less than four percent of the chambers nationwide are accredited at any level, which places the Shawnee Chamber of Commerce in an elite group.

We thank our Accreditation Task Force as well as all of the volunteers who contributed to this effort – an extensive, self review requiring our Chamber eight months to complete.  The Shawnee Chamber was first accredited in 2008.  Their current status is valid until December 31, 2025.
